Noodle Never Ends

2D strategy card game with roguelike elements

Introduction

Noodle Never Ends is a 8-week team project developed in Unity.

It is an online roguelike card game set against the backdrop of Wuhan’s street food culture. Players take on the role of a hot dry noodle stall owner trapped in a dream, where they must combine ingredient cards, meet customer preferences, and handle random events to achieve daily revenue targets for seven consecutive days—and ultimately break free from the dream cycle.

Role Description

Role: Team Lead & Level Designer

 

As the core driver of the project, I was responsible for managing the team workflow, allocating tasks, and leading the design of the game's narrative and core mechanics to ensure a perfect fusion of creative vision and gameplay.

Background

A hot dry noodle stall owner faints after losing a coin and finds himself trapped in a bizarre dream where he must meet his revenue target for seven consecutive days to escape.

Core Gameplay

GOAL: Collect 7 Memory Fragments to Win

Preparation Phase

  • Draw new ingredient cards

  • Random event occurs

  • Buy/Sell skill cards

Operation Phase

  • Serve customer

  • Check preferences

  • Play cards (Single or Combo)

Settlement Phase

  • Calculate total revenue

Earn Coins + Memory Fragment

FAILED:

Game Over

Card Combos Design

(Total: 9 Combos)

Players achieve high scores by playing specific card combinations, encouraging flexible hand management.

Player Experience & Goal:

Clutch Victory: Hard to assemble, but guarantees a huge score swing.

Random Events Design

(Total: 10 Random Event)

Examples:

“Meat Price Surge”

[Pork and Beef cards are worth half points this round.]

 

Disrupts Strategy: Forces players to adapt their usual "high-meat" strategies and find value in other ingredients.

“Condiment Contamination”

[All Sauce cards are disabled and cannot be played this round.]

 

 

Creates Puzzle: Presents a unique challenge where players must build combos using only Vegetables and Meats, testing their adaptability.
